My name is Cassandra McNary
Cassandra teaches piano, voice, theory, and harmony, and is dedicated to empowering each student to achieve their musical goals. With the right tools and unwavering support, you can overcome any challenge on your musical journey. Let's embark on this adventure together and unlock your full potential!

About Me.
With over 20 years of experience in music and education, Cassandra brings a creative, supportive, and personalized approach to piano instruction. She works with students of all ages and levels—whether they are complete beginners or returning to the instrument after time away—helping each one build confidence, develop strong technique, and foster a genuine love for music.
Cassandra’s teaching style blends classical foundations with a modern, flexible approach. Her lessons emphasize musicality, ear training, and emotional expression, creating a well-rounded and meaningful learning experience. She views piano not only as a valuable skill but also as a form of personal sanctuary, and she is committed to making lessons engaging, enjoyable, and fulfilling. She also offers beginner voice lessons.
Instruction is available for children, teens, and adults, and can be thoughtfully adapted for neurodivergent learners or those seeking a more intuitive or therapeutic approach to music.
Education
1995-2005
Alberta College
Cassandra began her musical journey at the tender age of 4, under the guidance of Miriam Mahood at Alberta College. She diligently worked on her RCM Piano studies completing her Grade 3 to Grade 10 exams, laying a solid foundation for her skills. Continuing her education, she furthered her knowledge of Theory, Harmony, and Music History with Brenda Dalen from the University of Alberta. This extensive training has equipped Cassandra with a deep understanding and appreciation for music.
1998-2001
St. Davids United Children Choir
Cassandra commenced her musical journey at the age of 7 by joining The St Davids United Children's Choir, where she studied under the esteemed conductor Helen Stuart until the age of 12. During her time in the choir she developed a strong foundation in music and vocal. Subsequently, she pursued further vocal training with Eva Brand, successfully completing her Grade 1 through Grade 4 examinations. Cassandra commitment to her craft and dedication to excellence are evident throughout her musical training.
2005 - Present
Life Journey of Rediscovery
Cassanda journey took a dramatic turn when she turned 19 and experienced a car accident that resulted the loss of two fingers. Despite this life-altering event, discovered the possibility of finger prosthetics, which fueled her determination to continue her musical studies. Over the next two years, she worked diligently to prepare for her Grade 10 exam, ultimately triumphing over adversity and passing with flying colors. Her resilience led her to Concordia University College, where she embarked on a year of music, education and choir studies, further nurturing her passion for music.
